Kolkata : To address issues like limited access to cancer screening, cancer related myths and lack of awareness about common cancer, one of the leading purpose-driven technology-led oncology platforms Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute (Karkinos Healthcare Kolkata) organised a day-long Community Awareness and Cancer Screening Camp (Cancer Early Detection Program) for over 50 people including men and women at Kamarhati in North 24 Parganas.
The program aimed to highlight the importance of early detection in the treatment of cancer, bridge the awareness gap regarding symptoms and risk factors, and address barriers to accessing timely diagnosis and treatment.
The participants underwent Oral Cancer Screening, Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) apart from basic health check up. A health education program was also conducted to inform participants about the various risk factors associated with common types of cancer.
Dr. Akther Jawade, Director East, Karkinos Healthcare said, “The large-scale morbidity and mortality due to cancer can easily be minimized with well planned cancer education, organized screening, and early detection programs. Keeping this in mind, Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute (Karkinos Healthcare Kolkata) organized a cancer screening cum health education program in the Kamarhati area of North 24 Parganas with an objective to create awareness about importance of regular health check–up, risk factors associated with cancer and prevention among the people.”
A highly experienced Medical Team headed by Dr. Nirjhor Bera of Karkinos Healthcare Kolkata was present to conduct the cancer screening program. The Medical Team also raised awareness about the causes and symptoms of cancers and asked people to take precautionary measures.
