Flipkart Health+ launches Diabetes Free Days; joins hands with India’s leading Doctors to spread awareness about Diabetes

Kolkata Flipkart Health+, the digital healthcare marketplace platform of India’s homegrown Flipkart Group, announces  one of the biggest diabetes care initiatives in the digital healthcare world, Diabetes Free Days (November 10-16, 2022). Customers across India, including tier-2 and tier-3 cities, can enjoy the best offers on pharmaceutical medicines and healthcare products along with additional benefits.

Flipkart Health+ has joined hands with Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., one of India's leading diagnostic service providers, to give free diabetes screening tests (HbA1C Test) to customers who shop during this timeframe. Customers can also claim free glucometers, a blood glucose monitoring device that is used to keep a routine track of one’s glucose levels, a key indicator of diabetes.

Flipkart Health+ is also collaborating with India’s leading Diabetologists, Endocrinologists, and Wellness Experts to create educational and interactive sessions that will be hosted on popular social media platforms. As Diabetes is one of the largest global health emergencies of this century, the company is on an endeavor to spread awareness about this chronic illness and educate people about preventing as well as managing it.

In addition to this, Flipkart Health+ is organizing one of India's biggest digital marathons, Diabetes Free Run (November 13-14) in association with Novo Nordisk. People across India are encouraged to participate by completing 6,000 steps in a day and sharing it on their social media platforms with #FlipkartDiabetesFreeRun. This marathon will help drive donation of insulin to children with Type 1 Diabetes.

The burden of diabetes is rapidly growing in India. According to the IDF in 2019, India ranked second (after China) in the highest number of individuals with diabetes (77 million) and pre-diabetics (40 million). Which means over 1 in 12 adults in India are diabetic. It is also estimated that nearly 57% of adults (approximately 43.9 million) with diabetes are undiagnosed in the country. Furthermore, ICMR recently noted that India witnessed 150% increase in the number of people with diabetes in the past three decades.

“Flipkart Health+ is on a mission to drive more awareness on diabetes in India. We are continuously striving towards improving the health of millions of Indians through affordable, health-oriented and innovative solutions. This World Diabetes Day, Flipkart Health+ continues its endeavor to stay focused and determined to address high healthcare costs and improve quality of life by providing the best value to patients and caregivers, and connecting them with medical experts,” said Prashant Jhaveri, CEO, Flipkart Health+.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Ameera Shah, Promoter and Managing Director, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, said, “The partnership with Flipkart Health+ is aligned with our ongoing commitment towards patients’ education and awareness on  chronic lifestyle diseases such as Diabetes. With the growing number of cases both in India and around the world, advocating for awareness on diabetes becomes very crucial. We are happy to partner with Flipkart Health+ and we are confident that this campaign will help us reach out to people and spread awareness on diabetes.”
