‘Swalih’ takes Malayalam cinema to Durgapur International Film Festival 2026

 

Kolkata: Malayalam feature film Swalih, produced by Shaju Valappan and directed by Siddik Paravoor, has been selected for the Durgapur International Film Festival 2026.

The film, described as a humanistic and socially conscious narrative, explores themes of compassion, dignity, faith and the complexities of contemporary life. Through its characters and emotionally driven storytelling, Swalih attempts to highlight shared human experiences while addressing social realities.

Produced under the banner of Valappan Creations, the film is part of the production house's focus on meaningful cinema rooted in social concerns and universal human values.

The selection at the Durgapur International Film Festival marks a significant step in the film's festival journey and is expected to provide a wider platform for independent Malayalam cinema.

Producer Shaju Valappan, who is also an entrepreneur, filmmaker and cultural activist, will represent Swalih at the festival and participate in interactions with audiences, filmmakers and members of the media.
