Kolkata: Acropolis Mall, one of India’s leading shopping and entertainment destinations, organized an all-day Table Tennis Tournament today. Powered by Decathlon, the French sporting goods retail brand known for its wide range of affordable sports equipment and apparel, the tournament aimed to encourage both amateur and professional table tennis players to participate and test their agility. The event kept participants energized and engaged with a healthy dose of excitement and entertainment.
Decathlon lent its expertise as a leading sports equipment brand by promoting the tournament through its social media platforms and encouraging participation from fitness enthusiasts and table tennis lovers.
Mr. Sritanu Maji emerged as the tournament winner, defeating Pratichi Banerjee in the final match. He had previously overcome semifinalists Sarthak Arora and Subhrojyoti Seal to reach the championship round. The tournament was curated by Parag Prakash Ankolekar, an ITTF Level 2 Certified Coach and a PGDSC-certified coach from the Sports Authority of India (NIS). Diptanshu Dutta, a former national table tennis champion, SGFI gold medallist, and experienced coach, co-hosted the event and served as the tournament referee, bringing his extensive expertise to the championship.
The tournament welcomed participation across genders, featuring Mixed Open events as well as Men’s and Women’s Singles categories. A total of eight prizes were awarded to the winner, runner-up, semi-finalists, and quarter-finalists.
