Record Labels & Singers and Musicians Sign Historic Agreement

 


Kolkata: The members of the Indian Music Industry (IMI), the apex body representing music labels in India and the Indian Singers Rights Association (ISRA), the apex body representing singers in India have unanimously welcomed the historic agreement signed between ISRA and IMI’s member labels.  The agreement covers all record labels, singers and musicians on a pan-India basis and will help the music market grow for the common benefit of all stakeholders across the music ecosystem in India.
The IMI and the ISRA express their immense praise, acknowledgement and gratitude for Hon. Commerce and Industry Minster Shri Piyush Goyal for his unconditional support to the Artist community and the music industry and look forward to working with Shri Goyal and DPIIT to ensure that the industry unlocks its full potential and realises the dream of the Hon. Prime Minister of India to encourage Indian Music and strengthen this soft power of the country. On this historic occasion, the music industry seeks the support from the Government of India to tackle the growing menace of digital piracy and non-recognition of copyright.
Chairman of Indian Singers Rights Association --Padmashri ShriAnupJalota expressed his happiness on the said occasion “I would like to thank the Government of India and especially Shri Piyush Goyal Ji without whose support this agreement would not have seen the light of day. I wish the music industry all the best and hope this shaking of hands will result in benefits for the entire music industry.”


Shri Sanjay Tandon -- Founder, Director & CEO of the Indian Singer's Rights Association said, “It’s great to see the getting together of Record Labels & Artists at last. It will now enable the music industry as a whole to grow and prosper to the level that it should. This historic agreement should be music for all." 

Music is India’s big soft power. And for indian music industry to become a global force, collaboration of all stakeholders  is the key. We have seen the positive results when composers, lyricists and publishers work together .
