Kolkata : On the auspicious day of the holy Boishakh of Bengal, the 'Laketown Poetry Festival 2022' organized by Penprints Publications in Kolkata was celebrated with great pomp. Poets from Kolkata and several adjoining areas, Howrah, Hooghly, Medinipur, Burdwan, Birbhum, Bankura and Malda participated in the event, which was spent in the midst of the tragedy of Atimari. Hon'ble Minister in charge of Fire Extinguishing and Emergency Services Shri Sujit Bose Mahasaya inaugurated the function by lighting a lamp. At the beginning of the program, Mr. Supriya Chakraborty, the head of Penprints, said that the main theme of this evening is the celebration of life through poetry. Among the chief guests of the
day were famous Bengali poet-playwright Aranyak Basu, popular face of modern poetry Parthajit Chanda, Satyendranath Dutta Award winning poet Sumitav Ghoshal, journalist and writer Baren Ghosh. Literary Binayak Bandyopadhyay could not come but sent his best wishes at the beginning of the program. Apart from Bengali, English poets were also invited to this poetry evening. Sahitya-Akademi regular writer and professor Ketki Dutta, Mumbai-based poet Parmita Mukherjee Mallick, poet and professor Madhu Srivastava, Amita Roy and poet-professor Anik Chatterjee all read English poetry. As planned,
about sixty-five poets recited poems. Two parables and two recitations were also presented at the event to bring out the taste. Saikat Majumder, a professor and writer of journalism and media, captivated the audience with his impeccable short story. Another popular female journalist of the time and poet Payal Pal's poetic alpana also added a wonderful color to the event. Although completely different from the professional side, only one love and affection towards poetry united everyone. All the poet-storytellers were given a reception by Penprints, and it was finally announced that such an event would be held in the heart of Calcutta in the future. The entire program was conducted and conducted by Professor and Head of TechTouch Entertainments, Rishi Bhattacharya and Professor-Poet Sritanvi Chakraborty.
