Experiences of bloggers and influencers visiting Ranaki Vav, Modhera and Vadnagar

Web Desk : Rani ki Vav in Patan, Modhera Sun Temple and Vadnagar, in Gujarat are important tourist destinations with historical and cultural heritage. The construction of Rani ki Vav is attributed to Rani Udaimati, wife of King Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty of Anhilwad Patan, and the daughter of King Ra Khengar of the Chudasama dynasty of Junagadh. She built this step well at the end of the 11th century with the intention of providing water to the people. Rani ki Vav is a masterpiece of sculpture and architecture. This is Jaya type of step well, having artistic idols of gods and goddesses. Also, the sculptures of nymphs and nagkanyas are carved in it. There are only two Sites in Gujarat which are declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, one of which is Rani ki Vav. This is an amazing tourist destination for the art and architecture lovers. Ranaki Vav is an excellent example of a culture associated with folklore.

The Sun Temple of Modhera on the banks of the river Pushpavati was built by King Bhimdev Solanki of the Solanki dynasty in 1026-1027 CE. The temple has been declared an important national monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. Outside the ‘Garbhagruha’ of the temple, 12 different idols of the Sun are carved. This temple is facing east direction. When the sun rises early in the morning, its rays enter the Garbhagruha of the temple and falls on the gem in the centre of the crown of the Idol of the Sun, illuminating the whole temple. This temple is also a masterpiece of sculpture and architecture and attracts art lovers. Every year a 3-day Uttarardh Mahotsav is organized here by the state tourism department, in which classical dances are performed.

Blogger 2 – (Modhera Sun Temple)

A visit to the Sun Temple of Modhera gave a unique experience. We learned from the tourist guide that the first rays of the sun fall on the statue of the sun in the Garbhagruha i.e. the main sanctum sanctorum of the temple, which illuminate the whole temple. What an amazing sight that must have been! The sculpture and architectural work of the temple is also very beautiful. Absolute peace is experienced by visiting this temple. On the pillars of the temple are engraved various occasions of the two epics of India, Ramayana and Mahabharata. The beauty of this place cannot be described in words. One must visit the Sun Temple to enjoy this beauty.

Blogger 3- (Vadnagar)

It was a thrill to visit Vadnagar as the birthplace of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. I really enjoyed visiting this ancient town. Vadnagar is a place of temples, so it is not wrong to call it a religious place. There are many temples like Anjor Mata, Shitala Mata, Chhatreshwari Mata, Ashapuri Mata, Ambaji, Somnath Mahadev, Dhuneshwar, Mahakaleshwar, Chhabila Hanuman etc. We visited some of these temples. I also visited Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple here. I learned from the tourist guide that it is the temple of the deity of the people of Nagar community. The view of Sharmishtha Lake is very beautiful and attractive. It is an excellent example of rainwater harvesting and groundwater management. The place is being beautifully developed by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat. I visited historical places in Vadnagar like Gauri Kund, Kirti Toran and Tomb of famous singer sisters Tana-Riri. Vadnagar still preserves the historical heritage of Gujarat.
