The Pandemic and sudden lockdown were a severe setback for industries with large employee force and infrastructure. Shyam Steel, a TMT Bar producer, was quick enough to adapt to the new way of work as they moved forward.
Anticipating the official lockdown announcement, Shyam Steel did realize two things - one, to save their employees from infection the office needed to be closed till the threat reduced; two, they had to ensure that the work ran as smoothly as it always did. So, they started training their employees to work on digital platform from their homes, which included instructing batch after batch of employees to work from home for short time periods to adapt them to the new process, and simultaneously, strengthening their IT infrastructure to ensure seamless workability from homes, which included a quick response team that could remotely take care of IT issues of employees when working from home. Not only restricting themselves to their internal employees, Shyam Steel also trained all the dealers and distributors to operate digitally.
Hence the very next day of the lockdown announcement, the entire Shyam Steel fraternity were up and ready to get the operation running smoothly from home. Even when their manufacturing operation was held up, the dealers never felt alienated as the company kept in constant touch with them. This led Shyam Steel to come back to normal very fast once lockdown was lifted, enabling them to touch their pre-lockdown figure within a month.
