Shri R.S. Garkhal unfurls Indian Tri-colour at the Geological Survey of India Central Headquarters

Shri R.S. Garkhal, the Additional Director General PSS, of the Geological Survey of India at the Central Headquarters in Kolkata hoisted the national flag on the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day celebrations.

Addressing the gathering Shri Garkhal said, “Today we celebrate the 72nd year of India attaining the status of a Republic. It was a humongous effort by the Constituent Assembly to put down in writing the Constitution of India. Special mention here should be made of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who had put in efforts to make India a Sovereign Socialist Republic. On behalf of all the staff members of GSI, we today pay homage to him as well as all the members of Constituent Assembly.”

Shri Garkhal also highlighted the role GSI had played in nation building through  geological mapping and mineral exploration throughout the country  as well as generating new mineral potential areas  since India attained Republic status. The organisation is giving major thrust   on the Baseline Data Generation so that it helps the country in becoming a major player in mineral exploration.
